To unlock tools in House Flipper 2, progress through Story mode and check the tool wheel on the profile you are actually playing. Steam's Fully prepared achievement specifically requires all Story-mode tools. If the tool is already present but a feature is missing, check its perks or supported item types before looking for another unlock job.
For lawn mowing, there is a precise official route: complete New walls, new me to open Setting my new garden straight in Old Pinnacove. Finishing that garden job enables mowing in the tool menu; the developer also documents buying a lawn mower from the store as an alternative.
The full current job-by-job tool sequence has not been verified for this article. The developer-recommended community achievement guide supports progressing until the Story wheel is complete, but supplies no named sequence. The sections below help identify the actual missing feature and use the unlock conditions that can be substantiated.
01
Identify whether you need a tool, a perk or an editor function
Start by describing what you cannot do. An absent tool-wheel entry is a different problem from a tool whose menu lacks one option. A tool that works on one item but not another points toward an item-specific feature rather than an unfinished campaign unlock.
Use these distinctions to choose your next check:
| What you are missing | What to check first |
|---|---|
| A Story tool-wheel entry | Campaign progress on the current profile |
| The item collection bar | The Designer perk |
| Resizing for a particular object | Its resize icon and Change style panel |
| A mowing option | The garden-job route or store mower |
| A Sandbox quest or effects tool | The current mode and editor context |
This prevents spending time on the wrong kind of progression. For example, the official October 2025 update ties the collection bar to Designer. Completing unrelated jobs would not explain that feature as clearly as checking the perk named by the developer.
02
Check Story progress on the right profile
Open the Story save where you want the tool available, then inspect its wheel. Note the exact missing action before choosing your next job. If you are still working through the campaign, follow its available jobs and tool introductions rather than assuming that an empty slot is a broken installation.
After finishing a job, return to that same save and check what changed. Keeping the comparison within one profile makes it easier to tell a genuine unlock from a difference between saves. The beginner guide explains the broader relationship between jobs, renovating properties and Sandbox building.
When asking for help, name the mode, profile and last completed job. “The tool is missing after this job” is more useful than “all tools are locked,” particularly when another player's screenshot was taken in an editor. Include the installed game version if the behavior differs from a guide you are following.
03
Unlock lawn mowing through the Garden Update route
The official March 2025 Garden Update names the dependency explicitly. Setting my new garden straight is an Old Pinnacove job unlocked after New walls, new me. The announcement then makes mowing available through completing the new job or buying the mower in the store.
If mowing is your immediate goal, check that named prerequisite and whether the garden job has become available. If you prefer the store route, look for the lawn mower itself rather than assuming every garden decoration is a functional tool. Keep the two documented routes separate when deciding what to do next.
The same announcement adds a Sandbox tool for setting mowing quests and another for visual effects. Those are editor features for designing content, rather than evidence of extra rewards you must add to the Story wheel. This guide also makes no claim that the later mowing addition changed the requirements of the original all-tools achievement.
04
Separate Flipper Tool features from new tools
The Flipper Tool groups several functions under one tool. Official update notes refer separately to Duplicate, Copy style and Change style, so a feature inside that tool should not be counted as a separate missing wheel entry. First select the relevant function and identify what you are trying to affect.
The March 2025 update documents Open in store for items through Duplicate and for surface finishes through Copy style. That distinction matters when you are trying to locate an existing object versus matching paint or wallpaper. The Flipper Tool guide covers these functions in more detail.
Resizing has its own item restriction. The official Spring Update places resizing in Change style for supported Story items and identifies eligible store objects with a two-arrow icon. If one object has no resize option, compare it with a marked object before concluding that you have failed to unlock a whole tool.
05
Compare Story and Sandbox in the correct context
Story is the mode named in Fully prepared's official requirement. Sandbox exists for building and editing custom properties, and its specialized authoring functions serve that purpose. A larger editor menu does not, by itself, show that a Story save is missing campaign progress.
Ask what the demonstrated tool actually does. If someone is placing quest requirements, adding environmental effects or editing a custom property, compare their setup with Sandbox rather than searching your current renovation job for the same command. Our Sandbox guide helps separate those contexts.
Community houses and jobs add another variable to screenshots and tutorials. Record whether the example is an official Story job or a downloaded project before comparing interfaces. The mods guide explains the community-content workflow without treating it as a shortcut to campaign tool unlocks.
06
Keep achievement goals and co-op progress distinct
The community guide by 4V10N was updated in October 2025 and later recommended in a March 2026 developer roundup. Its all-tools entry says to progress until the wheel is complete; its all-upgrades entry is a separate goal. It is community-authored advice, and its recommendation does not supply a verified 2026 unlock order.
For co-op, the developer guide states that the shared world's progress is stored on the host profile. Check which save supplied the session before comparing that campaign with your own. This does not establish how every individual achievement or perk propagates between participants, so do not use a friend's completion notification as proof about your profile.
If previously available tools disappear alongside missing jobs or properties, investigate the save state instead of repeatedly replaying an assumed unlock route. Use the save-file guide for platform-specific checks, and the achievements guide when the tool works but a completion goal remains outstanding.
